Have you discussed your game with any former Dynamix employees?

Well, yeah. Our lead writer, Blake Hutchins, is a former Dynamix employee.
If you mean have we discussed it with any of the former Dynamix guys working at GG, no we haven’t, at least not in depth.
I do know they are very excited about the project though.

Are you going to be holding an open beta? We understand that you are aiming for a multiplayer test demo, will this be your open beta for multiplayer?

No. We will be releasing an Alpha Tech Release (ATR), which is quite a bit different from a full fledged beta release. An ATR usually only has a very few components of the final game available for play whereas a beta is usually the full game in its last tweaking stages.

The Alpha is primarily to get early feedback from the public on certain specific things that we may be undecided on how best to implement and things like changes in level design and whatnot.

Are you going to support game mods from the start? Due to Torque's powerful scripting engine and all!

Of course, we’d be daft not too. One of the big selling points for us in terms of “why use Torque?” was the easy and available mod support. Given Clancore’s background, you can understand why strong support for mods would be important to us and why we believe it to be in the overall best interests of the community and by extension VU Games as well. And as I understand what you are digging for with this question, I’ll elaborate further.

We plan on shamelessly lifting the best things from both Starsiege and the Tribes games and using them in ours. Our outlook is “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

For example the command map, in-game inventory stations, and quickchats will be virtually identical to the way Tribes 2 handled them, with a few tweaks to make them work for our specific needs of course. The waiting room configuration area will be almost identical to the one used in the original Starsiege.

I’m sure you can see the opportunities inherent in this setup that make them attractive for modifications.
