Bittah T2 Demo Competition

(Moved from T2 Thursday thread for visibility):

Just to make things interesting, I propose to introduce a little competition with IRL benefits:

The First Annual T2 Elite PUG DEMO COMP will begin in tonight's Monthly Elitist PUG. smokin_sunglasses.gif

After the PUG, participants will have the option of posting up 1 demo of 1 map of their choice (of their best map performance of the night), and a "secret voting panel of judges" and/or the general public will decide on the top two displays of mastery:

Best Demo of the PUG night = 2 EPs (Elite Points. LOL! icon_lol.gif )
Second Best demo of the PUG night = 1 EP.

Scores will be tallied and after 12 PUGs, the player who has the most EPs will be declared Tribal Supremo and I will personally donate 1 PRIZE of any available PC/Xbox360/PS3/Wii/PSP/DS game of their choice valued at up to $100, express-posted to them. There may also be 2nd/3rd Prizes depending on how close things are.

Rules:
- Each demo must be of the whole map. No chopping demos to delete your nub moments within a map. If you crash, you must demo on rejoining and submit both demos with no lengthy gap in-between.
- So as not to disadvantage certain non-point-whore positions, judging will not be based on points alone, but on general usefulness/effectiveness and clever play.
- Bonus credit given for clutch plays / feats of extraordinary skill & bravery.

If this little comp goes well I might extend it to the normal T2 Tuesday PUG night as well. The main benefit of this comp is that it will give us a brand new bunch of modern demos to enjoy (especially for those who are overseas and unable to participate), and will hopefully show the nubs a few tips/tricks/routes and raise the overall standard of the game. It's a WIN-WIN!

Round Results:

code:

Round  Best Submitter (2 EPs)  2nd-best Submitter (1 EP)

5 great maps played tonight with lots of players - I bet there will be some golden moments in the demos.

You may now begin posting demos (remember 1 per PUG night from each player maximum). General public will post comments here. If you have certain points you want to highlight at certain times in your demo, feel free -(eg "2:13 - I pwn the carrier with a 300m MA BAM!") it will save some judging time.

1st and 2nd place winners for this round will be announced on T2 Tuesday, and round 2 will be also be held then!

Who wants to man-up and be the first to post? icon_razz.gif

GL to all participants icon_mrgreen.gif

pretty sure the best moment in the pug was listening to shakey's voice emotes for about 3 minutes and then shocklance him at the invs. i think pumba would agree

Even if yours is the worst demo, if you're the only one to post in a round, you get the full 2 EPs by default. icon_lol.gif

Seeing as I probably won't be able to make many / any of these, I can offer my services as a judge instead.

I watch demos all the time (mainly my own) so I know exactly what a brilliant, match-winning performance looks like.

Let me know.

Cheers,

G.

Surely you can make Tuesday nights KFC? Your demo of ultra-effective base HD on Drifts during the last comp was a fine display of how to do it right! icon_wink.gif

But yeah, I was thinking about how we can keep the judging fair/unbiased, and came up with a few options:

1. I'd stay as the only judge - as I have no major e-friends/e-enemies and lub everybody equally.
2. Rotate judging responsibilities for each round (eg. KFC, other volunteers).
3. Let the public decide via comments in the thread.

I'm at work at the moment but will start reviewing the demos tonight. So far 2 Surreal demos and 1 Titan demo have been submitted. I better pick up some microwave popcorn on the way home. icon_lol.gif

Yeah I'll be there on Tuesdays, but tbh stick to Thursdays for the timebeing. See how it pans out.

I think this sort of idea will work much better with structured teams and smaller numbers. 16 vs 16 demos will be all sorts of carnage and dependent on (e.g.) which team has stacked HO. Hard to put in a great performance if you're playing naked. Erm... you know what I mean...

Oh and laugh_yellow.gif Phunx, I was only pulling your leg man...

For those of you who think to yourselves, "dk is ****, what the **** does he do for the team?", download this file and find out:

donkekong twl-titan 03 07.rar - 5.92MB

Most of you will have your thoughts justified icon_lol.gif

Pls watch at 2x speed and take note ::

ROLE:
Captain AKA I do what I want but planned on being HO clear/LO disrupt.. Covered on defense when I thought I had to

30 Scoreboard Pressure Points:
I directly contributed to all 3 of our flag captures (as in, carried the flag for part of the journey).

10 TPG points:
I deployed invs and covered for HoF at times

9 Supreme Skill points:
11 min mark: MA MD on flag carrier
15 min mark: MA on Marv (out of screen, listen for the noise)
15 min mark: MA flag pass shortly after MA on Marv

^this is just a brief spiel to make it easier for the viewer, I have submitted a lengthy document to the judges with justifications for my every move/load out/ski run etc

Will this be enough to take out the EP points?? I doubt it i played fuking ****! But was I worse than concept? Hmm..
